This was a major installation by international artist Lubaina Himid MBE, that had been commissioned for the 2014 Gwanjiu Biennale. The artist completed the work during a residency period to test out installation ideas. I was then commissioned to document the installation as well as the individual artworks and paintings on them.
The primary purpose was to create a record that could be sent to Gwanjiu to show how it was to be installed, to provide publicity photographs for the Biennale publications and also to give the artist a permanent record for her own purposes and for archives.
This was a fun project to work on with the artist helping by moving the board around. I photographed them from various angles and in various positions, firstly to convey the essence and the scale of the installation and secondly to capture the minute detail in the individual paintings.
